Hi! How I found out. I bought the netbook Asus 1000H, and my plans were to do what I do in a smaller butt doable way. My job and hobby is filmproduction, I have a canon XH A1 and a powerful workstation (vista 64bit, intel quad core processor and 8bg of ram).
What I didn't know was that you CAN'T use USB with firewire adaption, but what you can do is to use a DV to USB adaption. On that thought of line, I googled. But I didn't find anything that were worth buying and testing... then I came to think of Pinnacle, they always make products that’s got to do with external video capture cards. So I found Pinnacle Studio™ MovieBox Plus and Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate.
I wanted to know if it could make a conversion from DV to USB, and my software (on the netbook I use Adobe Premiere Elements) could access the camera and if Asus 1000h with 1,6 Atom prosessor could do the job of importing video.. But in my research, I couldn’t findd anyone who had actually tested the Movebox (name: 510-USB).
Then I looked up the Pinnacle Studio™ MovieBox Plus in Sweden, and the company Kjell & Kompani let me try the Moviebox without buying it, and it WORKED! The DV is able to work in every application you’ll need, and the ASUS 1000H can import digital perfectly and analog video with 99% success.
